Ferguson stepped down as United boss in 2013 but has since kept a watchful eye on his former club and still attends most games.
But Mourinho insists the legendary boss could never overstay his welcome.
The Portuguese has embraced Ferguson's presence during his short time in Manchester and has invited him back to the club's dressing room and training ground this season.
“He feels completely free because I told him that this is his house always and forever," said Mourinho.“He has travelled with us just a few times but this is his club.”Ferguson recently hailed the progress that United are making under Mourinho - the third manager to take charge of the Red Devils since his retirement.But he was not ready to comment on praise from the Scot, adding: “I don’t want to comment, I think I shouldn’t comment, obviously he is such an important person in the club.
