That’s according to Sky Sports journalist James Cooper who says United still can’t rubber stamp a move for Nemanja Matic until the Blues snap up Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Once the Monaco midfielder is through the door at Stamford Bridge it’s widely expected that Matic will be allowed to join United.

Mourinho is also vying for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.

But a deal for the Spaniard is also yet to materialise.

"I don't think he is happy about the lack of movement on the transfers," Cooper said on Sky Sports News.

"We know that he gave Ed Woodward, the executive vice chairman of Manchester United, a list with four or five names on it and options on four or five different positions.

"So it's difficult, there's problems there but they are still involved in these deals.

“I think he knows he still wants to bring people in, there's no doubt about that.

"The Alvaro Morata thing is very much something he'd like to do this week if possible.

“To give you a timeline on that, Manchester United are back in training at Carrington on Saturday, they then go to the States for their U.S. tour on Sunday.

"Jose Mourinho would dearly love to have players in for that but I think the problem with some of the deals he's trying to do with some of the clubs, is they're waiting for other players to come into those clubs.

"I think Chelsea are looking at Bakayoko for example, that would perhaps unlock the door for Matic to come to Manchester United."
