United have switched their focus to the Everton star as Jose Mourinho looks to land a top striker this summer.

The Red Devils have ended their interest in Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata and are currently concentrating on getting Lukaku’s move over the line.

Starsport understand the big Belgian is moving to Old Trafford in a huge £75m transfer.

He will sign a long-term contract worth £250,000-a-week with the Red Devils and likely become this summer’s most expensive deal.

Starsport also understand that United are determined to secure Lukaku’s signature before they jet off for their pre-season tour of America this weekend.

Mourinho and co travel Stateside for a string of high-profile friendlies and want Lukaku to be part of it.

While there are still some key details to be sorted out, United are confident they’ll be able to announce the mega-money swoop before Sunday.

United face teams such as Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona in the US.

Lukaku’s move to Manchester has been the hot topic in world football today and will remain so for some time to come.

Former Venezuela international turn pundit Alejandro Moreno believes United have moved for Lukaku because they feel their time is running out to land in a top-class striker this summer.

Moreno told ESPN: “You look at Romelu Lukaku and there is no question that he has been a consistent goalscorer in the Premier League.

"I don't think that he would have been at the top of the list for Manchester United.

"What I think that could be happening here is that the summer is coming and going and nothing seems to be happening for Manchester United.

"So you feel like 'wait a minute, even if we have to overpay for that guy, we better get hold of somebody, we've got to get hold of a player that we think will score goals for us'.

"'Even though he wasn't our first choice, we have to go after somebody'."
