The Red Devils have been linked with the Wales international in recent days.

Real’s interest in Kylian Mbappe has intensified speculation that Bale could end up leaving the Bernabeu.

But agent Jonathan Barnett has rubbished the reports linking the 28-year-old with United.

“It's a ridiculous, stupid story,” he said to BBC Sport.

Bale struggled with injuries last season for Real and was only on the bench for the Champions League final in Cardiff.

United supremo Ed Woodward is a known admirer of the forward and tried to sign him when he left Tottenham for Madrid.

Jose Mourinho is keen to overhaul his squad as they get set for a return to the Champions League.

And the Special One has also opened on wanting to add more signings after adding Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku to his squad.

“I’m happy with my squad, but I would like to have two more players, I never hide that,” he explained.

“One player - a midfield player - would give me more options to the balance and the team, another one an attacking player, especially that can play through the wings to give me more attacking options.

“But I never speak about players that belong to other teams, I don't like it if any manager comes and would say he would like one of my players, that's not correct.”
