Pep Guardiola has confirmed Samir Nasri is leaving

The French outcast is heading for the Etihad exit despite impressing on City’s tour of America.

Guardiola revealed that Nasri is still searching for a new club following his side’s 3-0 win over Tottenham in the Nissan Stadium in Nashville.

Nasri spent last season on-loan at Sevilla and Guardiola said: “We wanted to keep him last pre-season, but he decided to go to Sevilla.

“He knows the situation. We have a lot of midfield players. I like to work with the guys who want to work with us.”

Despite calling time on Nasri City career, Guardiola insists he still has plenty to offer, adding: “I saw him in these three games and his spirit in the training sessions.

“Still I’m waiting for a bad performance. He’s a guy who has unbelievable ability to keep the ball in small spaces.

“The ball is safe. He has his own special quality. The group are satisfied with him and his behaviour.”

Guardiola is desperate to off-load his unwanted stars, with Eliaquim Mangala, Fabian Delph, Wilfried Bony and Kelechi Iheanacho expected to follow Nasri out of the Etihad.

Iheanacho is closing in on a £25m move to Leicester and Guardiola added: “I think Kelechi is going to leave, for Leicester.

“I think so, but I don’t want to say something wrong. If it doesn’t happen he will be part of the group.”

Guardiola reckons his side are raring to go for the coming campaign after dismantling a strong Spurs side with a display he claims eclipsed anything his tea produced last season.

He said: “We haven’t dominated like that. Last season we were good, but not in 90 minutes like that.

Pep Guardiola also confirmed Kelechi Iheanacho is likely to leave for Leicester

“We cannot forget which team we played. Tottenham for the most part of last season played the best football. It’s pre-season, but we didn’t have a performance like that last season.

City also thumped Real Madrid 4-1 while in the States, although they did lose the opening fixture of their tour to Manchester United.

Guardiola added: “The results are good for confidence and the way we did it, our performance is good. I’m so satisfied, especially in the last two games.”
