The Gunners are willing to let the striker leave but are demanding a £13.4m (€15m) fee.

Perez’ agent told Goal the forward had made things official in terms of wanting to leave the Emirates.

The 28-year-old is down the pecking order at Arsenal with the likes of Alexandre Lacazette, Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck all preferred by Arsene Wenger.

Perez netted seven goals in 21 appearances last season.

His agent Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle is not happy with the asking price Arsenal have set.

“€15m (£13.4m) is an expensive price,” he told Goal.

“Lucas wants to go to the World Cup and be happy at a place where he has opportunities to play.”

Perez has his sights set on a return to former club Deportivo with the La Liga side interested in re-singing him.

The striker is determined to force his way into Spain’s squad for the World Cup and realised he must leave Arsenal to do so.

Perez was also upset when he found out his number had been given to record signing Lacazette on the Arsenal website.

“He [transfer negotiator Dick Law] called me and when they gave the number it was already on the Arsenal website,” Fernandez Lovelle explained.

“I thought it was not very elegant that they did not at least tell the player first.”
