Ivan Perisic has been heavily linked with Man Utd

Manchester United are back working on a deal for Inter Milan star Ivan Perisic.

Perisic is on Jose Mourinho’s wanted list but getting a transfer done has proven tricky.

Inter have stubbornly refused to accept any less than £48m and also want Antony Matial thrown in on loan.

United aren’t interested in losing the Frenchman and a deal for Perisic has subsequently stalled.

But The People say chief executive Ed Woodward is now back in talks with the Croatia star’s agent Fali Ramadani in an attempt to get a deal done.

It’s suggested he may sanction paying Inter’s £48m valuation in order to get the player on board.

Starsport understands Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been told not to rush his comeback.

The Swedish striker has been urged to take it easy and not over do it as he attempts to make a quick recovery from major knee surgery.

Ibrahimovic, 35, hopes to earn a new contract at Manchester United after effectively being released at the end of last season, when his 12-month deal expired.

And United boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed talks on that are underway.

His American doctors are amazed by his progress, but have advised him to strike a balance between rest and rehabilitation.

He recently took a break from his regular routine at United’s Carrington training complex and is ahead of schedule in his recovery and hopes to be fit by December.

United need more playmakers in their squad according to Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson.

He reckons Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Adam Lallana and Daniel Sturridge are the style of player that Jose Mourinho needs at Old Trafford.

“They’ve got one player, two players tops who can open people up,” Merson said.

“That’s Mkhitaryan and Mata. You go through the rest of the team, there’s not too many who will put the ball through an eye of a needle.

“You look at Liverpool, they’ve got Coutinho, they’ve got Firmino, they’ve got Lallana, even Sturridge when he comes short.

“They can put that ball through an eye of a needle, I don’t see that at Man United. I think they will just bulldoze teams, I really do.”
