Romelu Lukaku: Man Utd star put in complete display against West Ham - Shearer

That’s the verdict of Premier League legend Alan Shearer.

The division’s all-time leading goalscorer was full of praise for the £75m summer signing after he netted twice on his league debut for United.

“It was a complete centre-forward performance,” Shearer said on Match of the Day 2.

“He was aggressive, he had pace, he gave his team-mates options, his touch was good.

“When you look at a centre-forward he has to give you goals and he did that today.

“He was just superb, and horrible to play against.

“What they had last year with Ibrahimovic was a very good player but someone who is coming towards the end of their career.

“In Lukaku, they’ve got a guy who is 24 and coming into his prime.

“I think he can go to the next level and he should get between 25 and 30 league goals this season.”

Shearer thinks the 4-0 win over the Hammers was United’s best display under Jose Mourinho.

He added: “I’d say it was the best performance under Mourinho.

“It had edge, pace, energy to it in every position.

“It was enjoyable to watch.”
