Fernando Llorente was instrumental in Swansea's great escape last season

But the Spanish striker won’t be fit to feature in Saturday’s clash with Manchester United.

Star striker Llorente hit 15 goals last season to help keep the Liberty Stadium outfit in the Premier League, but broke his arm on holiday this summer after falling off his bike.

Swansea head coach Paul Clement said: “It’s good to have Fernando back involved. We will see how quickly we can get him fit to play, but he will not be ready for United.

“Because of the nature of the injury to the arm, he lost a lot of upper-body bulk.

"He managed as well as possible to maintain his cardio fitness, but he is going to have to rebuild that upper-body strength which he wasn’t able to work on while the arm was fractured.”

Llorente is a key man for Clement. The 32-year-old missed the season-opening draw at Southampton but could return for the trip to Crystal Palace.

Clement said: “Palace is a possibility. We will see. We will take it day by day with him. Hopefully he will respond well to the training and will be available soon.”
