Man City transfer news: Jonny Evans is a £35m target

City’s first offer of £18m for the 29-year-old was rejected by the Baggies but that hasn't put off manager Pep Guardiola.

According to The Sun, he is ready to make a second offer that will convince West Brom to sell the former Manchester United defender.

With Tony Pulis’ side in no rush to sell, they are holding out for a huge £35m bid for Evans, who would fill one of City’s ‘homegrown’ quota.

West Brom’s club captain spent 11 years at Old Trafford, playing 198 matches for the club.

The Baggies are already lining up potential replacements for the Northern Ireland international, with Tottenham’s Kevin Wimmer linked with a move to The Hawthorns.

According to The Telegraph, Wimmer has been told by Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino he can leave the club, and is likely to join West Brom after Pulis failed in his bid to sign Ben Gibson from Middlesbrough.

Despite interest from Crystal Palace and Stoke, the Baggies look most likely to capture the Austria international for a fee of £15m plus add-ons.

He would be West Brom’s fourth summer signing, after Jay Rodriguez, Zhang Yuning and Gareth Barry.
