Arsenal transfer news: Alexis Sanchez could be swapped for Sergio Aguero

Sanchez is wanted by Manchester City but Arsenal don't want to sell their prized asset.

It's been claimed Raheem Sterling could head south in a cash-plus-player deal to try and tempt the Gunners to change their mind of Sanchez.

And Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol claims Aguero is another name who has been touted for a switch to the Emirates.

"Manchester City will make an offer for Alexis Sanchez this week is what we’re being told," he said on air today.

"We also understand City are desperate to sign Sanchez before the window closes on Thursday.

"One source has confirmed to us that City are willing to offer Raheem Sterling as part of any potential deal.

"Another player who could potentially be involved in any deal, this is what one source is telling us, is Sergio Aguero.

"City are saying Aguero is not for sale, they’ve been saying that for a very, very long time.

"We’re also told Sanchez is unhappy and wants to leave Arsenal, although Arsenal’s official position remains that Sanchez is happy, he’s staying at Arsenal, even though he has less than a year left on his contract."

Ex-Arsenal star Ray Parlour isn't keen on his former club swapping Sanchez for Sterling.

“For me Man City would be getting the better deal, definitely,” Parlour said on talkSPORT.

“I like Raheem Sterling, he’s had a really good start with two goals in the opening couple of games.

“But at times, I watched it at the weekend, it’s a football brain sometimes.

“That time when he was running with the ball and there was a break on and there was two Man City players joining in and he tried to take the guy on in the box and he ended up running it out of play. For me the football brain isn’t there.

“He’s a good player and is a player who could come into the club and be a decent signing, but will he score as many goals as Sanchez?

“I know he started well in the Premier League but he’s a totally different player to Sanchez.”
