Dwight Gayle looks set to leave the club in the next 48 hours.

Gayle has been the subject of interest from a few Championship clubs, including Leeds United, who were told they have pay upwards of £18m for the attacker but have not tabled a bid as of yet.

This morning, according to Sky Sports’ Keith Downie, Fulham have joined the race for the forward, as the club get set for two hectic days of negotiating.

Rafa Benitez must now decide whether to sell the player so late in the window, with seemingly no replacement ready to arrive before tomorrow’s 11pm deadline.

The Spaniard has also been told he must sell players before he can bring any fresh faces to Tyneside.

The former Crystal Palace forward scored 23 goals in the Championship last season and was instrumental as Newcastle lifted the Championship trophy.

In a series of posts on Twitter, Downie wrote: "Newcastle sources tell us this morning they have received a £15m from Fulham for striker Dwight Gayle. They're considering whether to accept.

Newcastle are set for a busy 48 hours

"Fulham's formal bid only landed on the St James' Park desk this morning. Not rejected but we understand they're looking for closer to £20m.

"Rafa Benitez wants to be sure he has a replacement lined up before Newcastle agree to sell Dwight Gayle. £15m Fulham bid on the table."

Dwight Gayle has been uninspiring this season.
