Man City are ready to bid £70m for Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez

Arsenal yesterday rejected City’s opening offer of £50m for their Chilean superstar.

Sanchez is looking to leave the Gunners before tomorrow’s transfer deadline and Arsene Wenger is willing to sell players who want to go.

But Wenger is not willing to let any of his stars leave for under his valuation, hence their instant rejection of City’s first bid.

The Daily Mail report that City are now prepared to increase their offer to over £70m.

Wenger is eager to land a player in return and is keen on England winger Sterling.

But the reports say Sterling will not be involved in any potential deal and City are solely focused on completing a cash transfer.

It is said an offer of £70m could convince Arsenal into selling Sanchez, especially as he could leave for free next summer when his current contract is up.

But Wenger is concerned about that he won’t be able to secure a replacement for him.

The transfer saga, which has already rumble on all summer, appears to going right to the wire.

Another factor complicating things is Chile’s World Cup qualifier against Paraguay tomorrow.

Sanchez is set to take part in the vital clash in Macul and this could hamper City’s attempt at landing him.
