Liverpool are set to sign Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

That’s according to the Daily Echo who claim the England ace is set to complete his move to Anfield.

Chelsea and Arsenal had agreed a £40m transfer fee for Oxlade-Chamberlain at the start of this week.

But the 24-year-old turned down a move to Stamford Bridge.

It is understood that the player was told he would be deployed as a wing-back by Antonio Conte but he wants to fulfil his wish of becoming an out-and-out centre-mid.

But the Daily Echo claim Oxlade-Chamberlain also rejected Chelsea as his heart is set on a move to Liverpool.

It is said he never came close to hold talks with the Blues and is holding out for the Reds to match Chelsea’s bid.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has started every game for Arsenal so far this season.

But he recently ignored the Gunners’ offer for a new £180,000-a-week contract and has likely played his final game for the club.

Liverpool have reportedly shelved their plans to land Monaco ace Thomas Lemar as they focus on getting a deal for Oxlade-Chamberlain over the line.
