New West Brom signing Kieran Gibbs has refused to criticise former boss Arsene Wenger

The full-back ended his 13-year association with Arsenal yesterday to join up with Tony Pulis at The Hawthorns.

But the 27-year-old, who made 230 appearances for Arsenal, says he isn’t one of the growing band who have got it in for under-fire Wenger.

He lost his place last season and has been unable to showcase the form which earned him 10 England caps.

But rather than stick the knife into his old boss Gibbs said: “I would like to thank Arsene for giving me the chance to start my career and fulfil a dream.

“It has been an amazing journey to play for my childhood club since I was 14.

“Thank you to all the fans, the Arsenal staff and especially my team-mates who have been there during the special moments and have helped me through some tough times.

“Now it’s time for the next chapter and I can’t wait to get started with the boys.”

The full back accepts that life at The Hawthorns could be a whole lot different to what he’s been used to.

He added: “Tony Pulis is different to what I’ve had before and I feel he can develop me in certain areas I maybe need to work on. I feel he can help me progress.”

“I watched the boys in the first few games of the season and they’ve got a lot of energy. They’ve made some good signings and I feel this is a good move for me.”

Pulis said: “ Kieran’s a good age and has made over 200 appearances for Arsenal, represented his country and has Premier League and Champions League experience. These qualities are exactly what we’re looking for.”

West Brom last night also completed the signing of Paris St-Germain defensive midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak on a season-long deal.

The Pole joined the French outfit from Sevilla for £34m only last year but failed to make an impact.

Krychowiak said: “I had a lot of offers from Spain and Italy. But this is a very ambitious club. There’s a good atmosphere here.”

Pulis was delighted to finally get his man, and said: “I think it’s a coup for the club and I couldn’t be more pleased to get the chance to work with Grzegorz.

“I first tried to get him two years ago and it didn’t work out and I’ve been trying to get him every window since!”
