The Brazilian defender is being considered as a last-minute reinforcement with Antonio Conte desperate to add to his squad before the end of the transfer window in just over 24 hours.

Conte was thought to be keen to seal a dramatic £105m triple-swoop for Oxlade-Chamberlain, Leicester’s Danny Drinkwater and Everton playmaker Ross Barkley.

But after talks with Oxlade-Chamberlain broke down yesterday, German outlet Bild claimed Italian coach set his sights on 31-year-old Rafinha.

Chelsea fans were left furious at reports linking the club to Bayern defender Rafinha

At first glance, the Brazilian appears a perfect recruit to join Conte at Stamford Bridge.

An energetic, attack-minded wing-back, Rafinha registered a goal and an assist in his 20 appearances for the German champions last season.

But clearly he has failed to live up to expectations, as fans of both Chelsea and Bayern were quick to pile in on the former Schalke man.

The 31-year-old has been slammed by fans of both Bayern and Chelsea

“Rafinha is one of the worst right backs I've ever seen,” scrawled one Bayern supporter on social media site Reddit.

“He has no idea how to defend space or handle counter attacks. He often abandons his entire flank and waits at the other end as Boateng and Hummels scramble to make do without him.”

A Chelsea fan replied: “Please for the love of God, no.”
