Adrien Silva has travelled to Leicester to complete his £22m deal

Chelsea are eager to complete a £35m move for England ace Drinkwater.

But their swoop has been held up with Leicester only willing to sell after they have signed his replacement.

And it appears that things are finally starting to fall into place in the final hours of the summer transfer window.

The Daily Mail claim Sporting Lisbon star Adrien Silva has been given permission to leave his international duty with Portugal.

The 28-year-old is not involved in their World Cup qualifier against the Faroe Islands this evening.

He has instead jetted to Leicester to try and sort out his deal.

The Foxes still have worked to do on the transfer which will likely cost them £22m.

Chelsea are trying to sign Danny Drinkwater for around £35m

But should he complete a deal at the King Power, Drinkwater would then be free to move to Stamford Bridge.

Leicester wanted Silva last summer and it is understood that Craig Shakespeare is a big fan of his.

He would be a direct replacement for Drinkwater in Leicester’s starting line-up.

It is unknown whether Drinkwater would be guaranteed the same at Chelsea but he wants to join the west Londoners.
