Frank de Boer is already under serious pressure at Crystal Palace

The under-pressure Eagles chief is walking on a tightrope ahead of planned talks with the board this weekend.

De Boer has lost the first three Premier League games of his reign, with his players struggling to adapt to a shift in style under the new regime.

And the writing could be on the wall after chairman Steve Parish refused to publicly support De Boer following his nightmare start.

Parish said: “It’s not been great, it’s a results-based business, so if you don’t get wins...Frank knows that.

“We have got to look at how we’ve been playing and performing, and what we can do to improve it.

“So we’ll be working hard, having some serious conversations and making sure we turn it around.”

The Dutchman is only 68 days into a three-year deal but his job is already on the line with Palace believed to be weighing up alternatives.

Ex-England boss Roy Hodgson is the front-runner to take over with De Boer increasingly likely to be axed.

If De Boer does survive the sack during the international break, he will at least have £26m new boy Mamadou Sakho to call upon for the trip to Burnley on September 10.

The French defender starred on loan last season and rejoined Palace on a permanent basis from Liverpool on deadline-day.

Parish added: “It’s absolutely massive as Mamadou was such a big part of us last year.

“All the players have wanted us to bring him back, the supporters have been driving me mad too, so he was our No.1 target.

“I think he will give everybody a lift.

“I don’t think our season is lost, we’re not even 10 per cent through it. Now let’s hope we can get some points on the board.”
