That’s the opinion of pundit Stewart Robson who cannot understand why the Monaco man would have wanted to move to the Emirates.

Arsenal tried to sign Lemar yesterday and even had a £92m bid accepted.

But in the end the France international opted to star at Ligue 1 champions Monaco.

“Thomas Lemar has made the right decision,” Robson said on ESPN FC.

“If you look at the history over the last few years of young players, top-quality players going to Arsenal, they’ve got worse.

“There’s no proper coaching going on, there’s no development of players.

“You look at the likes of (Jack) Wilshere, you look at the likes of (Alex) Oxlade-Chamberlain, (Mathieu) Debuchy coming in at right-back. We’ve never heard of him in the last two years.

“There’s a lot of players, (Andrey) Arshavin was one of the top players in the world.

“He came to Arsenal and he went downhill. He was a shadow of himself by the time he left.

“That’s why players won’t want to go to Arsenal at the moment.

“It’s because of the management and the coaching at the football club, which is sub-standard.”

Arsenal had a quiet summer transfer window, signing just two players.

They added Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac to their ranks.
