That is the opinion of pundit and former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley.

Ozil took to social media on Saturday evening to hit out at former players who had been criticising his performances of late.

However, Burley says the German is in no position to take offence when he is yet to sign a new contract with the Gunners.

The midfielder could leave Arsenal for free next summer and Burley says that is hardly the kind of “support” that the 28-year-old has been asking for himself.

“Here’s a guy Mesut Ozil who is clearly a talent,” Burley said on ESPN FC.

“But he does it when it suits him, not particularly in the bigger games for Arsenal.

“He’s talking about ex-players and there are quite a few Arsenal ex-players, like there are Chelsea and Man Utd, they all panda to the clubs because they want to get in, they want to get their dinner and want to get wined and dined on match days.

“I’m still waiting for an invite from an ex-club!," he quipped.

“Here’s what you’ve got with Mesut Ozil, he’s criticising former players for criticising, saying ‘get behind us and support us, oh and by the way, in the meantime I am just going to sit back and hold the club to ransom on a £300,000-a-week contract (offer)’ or whatever it is.

“He’s not signed has he, so he’s not exactly supporting his club by not signing a contract, but they’ve got to get behind him whilst he makes his mind up? I think not.”
