That’s the verdict of Ryan Giggs, who won the Premier League 13 times under Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson.

Liverpool came into the new season having not tasted domestic title glory since the end of the 1989/90 campaign.

But there’s renewed optimism on Merseyside following the big-money additions of Mohamed Salah and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

Liverpool also retained Coutinho’s services this summer, despite the Brazil international being the subject of three hefty bids from La Liga giants Barcelona.

Giggs has now had his say on the Reds’ chances of securing a first ever Premier League crown come May 2018.

And he’s revealed the impact he believes the fact Coutinho will still be around can have on Klopp’s side.

He said: "I didn't fancy Liverpool before the season started, but they've made some decent buys and kept Coutinho which is a boost for them.

"To win the league you need a top goalkeeper and you wonder have they got that? That would be the only question, but after the business they've done I've probably changed my mind a little bit and they will be in the mix."

Liverpool have collected seven points from their first three games of the season.

They visit Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City on Saturday, with Oxlade-Chamberlain in line to make his debut.
