The Gunners put in two abject performances before the international break.

Back-to-back defeats at Stoke and Liverpool saw Arsenal fail to score and ship in five goals.

Frustration among supporters grew further with the club’s lack of signings as the transfer window closed.

A number of players looked to leave too, as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain joined Liverpool, Alexis Sanchez nearly went to Manchester City and Mesut Ozil still has not signed a new deal.

Despite the dissatisfaction at the Emirates at the moment, Wenger wants fans to give the same love to Arsenal’s players he has for them.

“What’s important is to focus on what’s in front of you,” Wenger said.

“We had a performance like that a few years ago at Liverpool, we played them again one game later and beat them at the Emirates.

“Our performance was not good enough but sport is sport.

“I love my players and I believe in my players.

“We want our fans behind the team. They can come to quick conclusions or they can see what’s happening and stand behind the team and that’s what we want.

“The best way to win is to perform. It’s not a decision to not perform and to win.”
