Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has criticised Andreas Pereira for opting to leave Old Trafford for Valencia on loan.

The Special One said: “It was a personal decision that I don’t agree with, a decision I don’t think honestly is the best decision for him, a decision that disappoints me.

“He has the potential to be fighting for a position, opportunities and to be a Manchester United player.

“His decision can be considered as a young player who wants to play every weekend but also a young player that is not ready to fight for something different and it’s different to play in Manchester United’s midfield.

“You have to be ready to fight for the position and I am disappointed he left. But it was his decision.”

Ivan Perisic had committed his long-term future to Inter Milan by signing a contract extension.

The midfielder was heavily linked with a move to United throughout the summer but a deal failed to materialise.

The Croatian was already under contract with the Serie A outfit until 2020, but has signed a two-year extension to reaffirm his commitment to the club.

Perisic said: “It’s a special day, it’s certainly emotional and I’m happy after the stress of this summer.

“Now, we can look forward and I’m only thinking about Inter. After signing, the pitch is the only thing left for me to think about.”

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has opened the door to Gareth Bale potentially joining United.

The Bernabeu bigwig said on Cadena SER: “[As for Bale], he is one of the best players we have and we are very pleased with him.

“There were no offers for him and what [Jose] Mourinho said about him was just said in a complimentary way.

“Every player is transferable right now and we'll see what happens in a year, although I don't know what'll happen next year, just as nobody does.”
