That's according to Henry McRae of the Transfer Window Podcast.

The Manchester United boss publicly said he wanted four new signings in the last window.

He managed to snaffle three, with Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic and Victor Lindelof arriving.

But the Red Devils boss is still not content with the squad he has at his disposal and was looking to strengthen in two further positions.

The Portuguese was keen to bring in a left back and another attacking player.

On The Transfer Window Podcast, McRae said: "That's a problem [left-back] we talked about ad nauseam throughout the window.

"They needed a left-back they also wanted another attacking option.

"He wanted four players, but even that was a compromise because they wanted five, and he only got three so, you know, United have played well no doubt.

"Results have probably been a little bit flattering.

"They've got a lot of goals late in games.”
