The Blues were publicly and actively looking for reinforcements this summer.

They managed to bring in six permanent signings but a host of players also left.

Antonio Conte was complaining about his squad towards the end of the transfer window before Danny Drinkwater and Davide Zappacosta arrived late on.

But former Liverpool striker turned pundit Stan Collymore thinks more could have been done at Stamford Bridge

Antonio Conte complained about Chelsea's summer business

Collymore told the Daily Mirror: “Even though Chelsea have won their last three games in the Premier League and things seem to have settled behind the scenes, I don’t think they have added to their squad enough for Conte’s liking when it comes to the Champions League.

“I expected them to be in for a Naby Keita, a Leonardo Bonucci — players who were up for grabs in the summer — and they didn’t get them, even though I suspect their manager wanted them.

“And that will be a problem in the latter stages, when the pressure is really on.

“I expect Chelsea to beat Qarabag at home on Tuesday night and to get through a group that also contains Atletico Madrid and Roma.

“But unlike Hazard, I don’t foresee a repeat of 2012, when they lifted the Champions League trophy, for a little while yet."

Keita will join Liverpool next summer after a fee was agreed last month with RB Leipzig.

They wanted the Guinea international now, but a compromise was stuck which will see him arrive in 12 months instead.
