Transfer rumour specialists Don Balon claim Bernabeu chief Florentino Perez was frustrated not to get his way this summer.
And they indicate he won’t let Zinedine Zidane stop him from signing his own targets in a year’s time.
Perez is apparently on alert following Real’s slow start to the new season, which has seen them struggle to score goals and consequently pick up five points from their opening three games.
And Don Balon say the two forwards on his wish list are Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann and Juventus’ Paulo Dybala.
Griezmann is said to be the player Perez has a preference for and the fact he has a £91m (€100m) release clause would make getting a deal over the line simpler.
In order to finance that swoop, Real would likely get rid of Benzema or Gareth Bale.

Bale, meanwhile, would likely be available for around £91m if a Premier League club came calling.
