The Red Devils legend wants to see Jose Mourinho unleash a trident of his bright, young strikers together.

Romelu Lukaku has started like a house on fire following his £75m move from Everton over the summer.

Marcus Rashford's star shines brighter and brighter while Anthony Martial has shown signs of rediscovering his form of two season ago.

And with the pace, power and finishing abilities of the trio, Ferdinand wants to see them starting games together for the Red Devils.

Ferdinand told BT Sport: "If you look at it from a defender’s perspective, Rashford gives them those legs behind.

“He runs behind defences and makes you look over your shoulder.

“It’s a scary thought. Lukaku does the same.

“There is a relationship developing between those two under Mourinho – with [Anthony] Martial as well.

“I want to see Martial, Rashford and Lukaku together on the pitch.

“There’s pace, drive and desire to get goals as well between them. It’s exciting times.”

Jose Mourinho could unleash the trio on Sunday when United take on Everton.
