That’s the verdict of ex-Blues player and coach Ray Wilkins, who’s baffled by the fact Costa’s yet to return to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea picked up Morata from Real Madrid this summer in a deal worth an initial £58m with Costa expected to head back to Atletico Madrid.

However, Chelsea failed to thrash out a deal with the La Liga giants and that means the hitman’s still on the books in west London.

Costa has spent the past couple of months in his native Brazil, waiting for an agreement with Atletico to materialise.

Wilkins has now offered his take on how Spain internationals Costa and Morata compare.

And he’s claimed Antonio Conte should be picking both of them, rather than just Morata.

Speaking on Sky Sports News, Wilkins said: "When I look at Morata, and when I look at Diego Costa, I see a better footballer in Morata. Better control, better movement, probably quicker.

"But when I look at the beast in Costa, what he gives you, he upsets people. I’d much sooner have Costa than Morata, but that’s only a personal opinion.

"Why we haven’t got both, I don’t know. Costa still has one, or is it two years on his contract. He should be at Stamford Bridge. We should be using both of them and then we would have a proper strike force. And I just cannot, for the life of me, see why Costa is still in Brazil playing five-a-side on a beach with his mates. Whether you’ve fallen out or not, he’s still a Chelsea footballer and he should be back here in London."

Chelsea sit third in the Premier League, three points adrift of joint-leaders Manchester United and Manchester City after five games.

They play host to Championship outfit Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
