Kane bagged a hat-trick for Tottenham last night as they beat Apoel Nicosia in the Champions League.

And after the idea was floated of the England man partnership Lukaku up to for Jose Mourinho’s side, McCoist said: “Lukaku and Kane up front, what a prospect that would be. That would be incredible.”

McCoist thinks Kane has a great chance of winning a trophy this season - but he doesn’t expect them to win the Premier League.

Speaking on Radio 5 Live, he added: “Looking at Spurs this season, I might be proved wrong but probably their best chance to win the title was two years ago.

“I look at Spurs and their best chance of winning something is a cup.

“The two Manchester clubs and potentially Chelsea could have too much for them over the season.

“Like all players, it doesn't matter who, you want your medals.

“People talk about staying at a club and of course it's an important part of the game.

"But at the end of the day if you can't show your grandson or granddaughter couple of medals from the league or FA Cup or Champions League then you're missing something, there's no doubt about that.”

Sky Sports pundit Gerry Francis thinks having Kane in the team would have helped Liverpool beat Spartak Moscow last night.

The Reds drew 1-1 with the Russian side.
