It has been a nightmare start to the new Premier League season for Palace with the south Londoners yet to claim point or even score a goal so far this term.
The Eagles have already parted company with Frank de Boer and Roy Hodgson’s start to life as boss has gone well.
Palace were smashed 5-0 at Manchester City last weekend and they return to the city to take on United at Old Trafford tomorrow.
Jose Mourinho’s men have been scintillating form this season and Merson fully expects them to claim another big victory against their struggling opponents.
He told Sky Sports: “Crystal Palace had some good chances against Man City but they just could not find the back of the net.
“I’m concerned for Palace in this one.
“There's an international break just around the corner and I think United will be ruthless.
“I can't see anything but a United win here and it's going to comfortable for Jose Mourinho and his side.
“It's difficult to see where Palace go from here if they suffer another big defeat at Old Trafford.
“After the international break it doesn't get any easier as they play Chelsea.
“And if the teams around them pick up a few points it just gets worse and worse for Roy Hodgson.”
United, who beat Southampton 1-0 last weekend, are currently joint top of the Premier League table while Palace are rock bottom.
