City, unbeaten and top of the Premier League table, travel to west London to take on reigning champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues started the new campaign slowly but are now starting to find their top form as well and today’s match is certainly an intriguing one.

While the game is a hard one to call, ex-Chelsea winger Nevin reckons Conte is one of the best in the business at finding ways to beat rivals teams.

And he hopes the Italian tactician can come up with the perfect ploy to topple Pep Guardiola’s side.

Speaking exclusively to Starsport, Nevin said: “What Chelsea have got is a coach who is probably the most adaptable around at the moment.

“They played a 3-4-3 for a lot of last season but that’s only because it kept working. If they had needed something else, he would have found something else.

“There’s a lot of things for Chelsea to take into consideration [against City] and a lot of teams haven’t found an answer to them.

“But Conte is probably the best in the business, along with [Jose] Mourinho, who can destroy any system.”

City will be without star striker Sergio Aguero after the Argentine was injured in a car crash in Amsterdam on Thursday night.

Aguero has already scored six Premier League goals this season but Nevin believes Guardiola will not be too fussed by the 29-year-old’s absence.

Nevin added: “There’s the big change with Aguero and him not being available but I think Man City are really quite adaptable.

“They have so many creative players, they can create be it through Aguero, Jesus, whoever.

“They won’t be overly concerned about [missing Aguero] and still probably play exactly the same way. It’ll be a superb game and it’s incredibly hard to call.”

A win for Chelsea will see them go level on points with City, possibly joint top of the league depending on the result of Manchester United’s clash against Crystal Palace.

Nevin admits he thought the Manchester giants would be battling it out for the title this term but Chelsea’s summer acquisitions have made them contenders too.

He added: “I thought the title race would be between United and City before the season and I didn’t think I would be putting Chelsea in that bracket.

“But with the players that Chelsea have added, particularly at the end of the transfer window, [Alvaro] Morata has hit the ground running and [Tiemoue] Bakayoko is clearly miles good enough to cover [United signing Nemanja] Matic, I’m now beginning to think that Chelsea could be up there.

“[Danny] Drinkwater is a great addition. [Davide] Zappacosta is absolutely magnificent, far better than I would have thought.

“I wasn’t sure where the cover was all over the field [earlier in the summer] but now I look at it and they are fine.

“[Andreas] Christensen is definitely good enough. And [Michy] Batshuayi, when you look at his minutes to goals ratio, it’s mental, it’s extraordinary.

“You look around the squad and think they do have a lot of options. I think it’s a good argument that the title race will be between them three.”
