Michael Owen fully expects Alexis Sanchez to leave Arsenal

Sanchez was heavily linked with leaving the Gunners throughout the summer transfer window.

The Chilean superstar has entered the final 12 month of his current contract and no new deal is on the horizon.

And Premier League great Owen fully expects that this season will be Sanchez’s last in north London.

He said: “If he’s in football and interested in securing himself for the rest of his life financially, he’ll leave.

“If he’s interested in winning medals, then he’ll leave. There’s no way possible that he can stay in my eyes.”

Arsenal claimed their third Premier League win in four matches by seeing off Brighton 2-0 earlier today.

Nacho Monreal and Alex Iwobi scored for Arsene Wenger’s men as they jumped up to fifth in the table.

Despite their impressive form in recent weeks, Owen insists the Gunners will not have a successful season this term.

Asked if he thinks Arsenal can claim a top four finish this campaign, Owen said: “No I don’t.

Michael Owen says Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal will not have a successful season

“I just don’t think they are good enough at the moment. I think they’re fifth, sixth, seventh. It will be one of those three places.

“At the start of the season I would have probably expected Everton to do better, so you would say there is a big seven maybe.

“But you would probably say Arsenal are fifth or sixth best at the minute.”

Arsenal make the short trip to Watford for their next Premier League fixture after the international break.
