Harry Kane and Joe Hart on England duty

The England No 1 says the Tottenham striker has a masterplan for scoring goals that’s so basic, it’s brilliant.

Kane is on top form right now on the back of a staggering 13 goals in September.

Seven of those have come in his last three games – two in the 3-2 win at West Ham, a Champions League hat-trick at Apoel Nicosia followed by another double in the 4-0 win at Huddersfield at the weekend.

And Hart is the man who gets to help him sharpen his goalscoring skills in training with the Three Lions.

Hart said: “There is no real secret to him and that is the brilliance of Harry.

“It is not dazzling skills. Harry is just brilliant at what he does and he is just one of the best out there.

“He keeps scoring goals and you cannot ask for any more than that. Long may it continue in an England shirt.

“He is hot, isn’t he? He is scoring just as many goals as the people regarded as world class and he has been doing it for many seasons.

“Harry gets put in that bracket and deserves to be. He has Mauricio Pochettino, one of the hottest managers in the world who regards him highly and there are reasons for that.

“Harry will just keep being Harry and he will keep scoring goals. As long as he is in my team, wearing an England badge, I want that to continue.”

Kane was being questioned just a month ago when he went through his traditional ‘dry’ August.

The 24-year-old has never scored a league goal in the month but piles them on in bucketloads straight after.

Harry Kane on England duty

Hart says he wasn’t fooled for one minute into thinking that Kane’s magical powers were suddenly on the wane.

He said: “Right now, Harry is hot. Ask Harry. You heard some of the rubbish coming his way when he did not score in August.

“But I still regarded him as the one you saw at the end of September with the same frightening number of goals.

“Whether he keeps his form, scores 40 goals or ends up with 20, he is still a top player and we’re lucky to have him.”

But Hart says when it comes to posing a goal threat it’s not just the Harry Kane Show.

He adds: “There is more in the squad. There are some fantastic players. Like Marcus Rashford.

Every time Jermain Defoe is on the pitch he has a goal in him and a fully fit Daniel Sturridge is one of the best players I have ever seen and played with.

“It is great having Harry but we are pleased with every squad member. We have some top, top players, so regarding to the question of lining up behind the team, it feels good and I feel we can do something. It is down to us to do it.”

Hart says the group is now focussing on nailing down a place in next summer’s showpiece in Russia.

He said: “Our aim is just that – to win these two games and qualify. We will never take our eyes off that.

“I feel great behind this team. It really excites me and fascinates me what we have to offer but I have always felt that way.

“That is the worrying thing. People have always asked me what is the key and what needs to be different. I cannot give an answer.

“If I could I would have a lot better record in tournaments. I believe in the squad from the bottom of my heart. I believe we are capable but there is a big difference in believing in something and doing it.

“That is why we want to qualify on and then look forward to making a big impact at this tournament.”
