The 20-year-old has earned praise of late following his first call up for England's Under-21s.

However, among English fans, Harrison is somewhat of an unknown young talent.

The ex-United youth is currently plying his trade at New York City in the MLS.

And his form there could yet see him return to the Premier League.

But despite Jose Mourinho's team continue to follow his progress, City have the upper hand.

According to The Sun, City will have first refusal on the winger due to the club's link with New York City.

The City Football Group are co-owners of New York City FC, managed by Patrick Vieira.

And a source told The Sun: “City will have first dibs on Harrison at New York if he continues his rapid progress.

“It's sure to rub United up the wrong way after what happened to him as a kid. He's having a great time over in the US.

“City are hearing positive things from the execs in New York and that Harrison is an exciting late bloomer.”

It is said Harrison could even be asked to train with City in Manchester so Pep Guardiola can watch him closely.

He left Manchester United at the age of 14, having come through with Marcus Rashford.

Now with Harrison seemingly developed, City and United are on alert.

Harrison could feature on Friday when England U21s host Scotland U21s at Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium, before playing in Andorra on Tuesday.
