Earlier this year, Liverpool announced that Anfield's Centenary Stand would be renamed the Kenny Dalglish Stand to commemorate the Scot's contribution to the club, both on and off the field.

Work on branding the Kenny Dalglish Stand is already well underway at Anfield, and is set for completion ahead of the official fan unveiling at the United fixture.

To celebrate the occasion, a special mosaic will be revealed across the Kenny Dalglish Stand and the Kop ahead of kick off.

The matchday programme will also feature a cover dedicated to the club legend.

Dalglish's Liverpool love affair has spanned nearly four decades, beginning in 1977 when he moved to Merseyside from Celtic.

The Scotsman currently holds the position of Liverpool non-executive board director.

Dalglish made 515 appearances and scored 172 goals for the Reds as a player and also managed the club on two separate occasions.

In total, he lifted eight league championships, three European Cups, two FA Cups, five League Cups and one UEFA Super Cup.

“It is testament to Liverpool’s history and status that we are not lacking in truly great individuals, whose names could easily grace a stand at Anfield,” said John W Henry on behalf of Fenway Sports Group.

“But in Kenny Dalglish we have a person who carries such immense significance to the fabric of this club, so it feels somewhat incumbent on us to recognise this in a manner that is befitting to the man.

“He is unique, not just to Liverpool, but to the game in England as a whole, having achieved greatness as a player and then enjoyed such success as a manager.

“His record and trophies won on both fronts speak for themselves.”

Liverpool trail second-placed Manchester United by seven points ahead of their October 14 showdown.

In their head-to-head record, United have 67 league wins compared to Liverpool's 55.
