Hazard is back up and firing for Chelsea after an ankle injury ruled him out of the first weeks of the season.

The attacking ace is a key part of Antonio Conte’s plans this season and will have a part to play for Roberto Martinez’s team in Russia too.

Hazard could pen a new contract with Chelsea before heading to the tournament.

But Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur thinks Real may come calling regardless.

“For him, if he performs well in the World Cup, is the star of the World Cup, it might still happen even if Chelsea tie him down to a new contract,” Terreur said on the Transfer Window Podcast.

“On the other hand, for him it’s the same as lots of Belgians.

“He’s very happy in London, in Cobham. He doesn’t like the limelight.

“His kids speak better English than him so that’s important to him, to his family life.

“That will play an important role too if he ever moves to Real Madrid.”

Hazard, who is Belgium’s captain, is in the squad for the World Cup qualifying double-header against Bosnia and Cyprus.

Belgium have already secured their place in next year’s tournament.
