Jose Mourinho is getting ready to take his Man Utd side to Liverpool in the Premier League

The Yorkshire official will take charge at Anfield as the rivals clash.

Atkinson previously took charge of the match in March 2015 when Juan Mata scored the winner for United.

And the referee sent off Steven Gerrard less than a minute after he came on as a second half substitute after a stamp on Ander Herrera.

United will be looking to repeat their victory and move 10 points clear of Liverpool in the Premier League.

The Reds will be desperate to cut the gap to Jose Mourinho’s side and put themselves back in title contention.

After the match back in 2015 Gerrard apologised for his red card.

“I need to accept it, the decision was right, I have let my team-mates and manager down today, even more importantly I let all the supporters down,” he said.

“I tried to jump his tackle, I saw his studs and I reacted wrong. I’ve been in the game long enough to know when you do something like that, especially at the timing of the game, at half-time with 45 [minutes] to play, a great opportunity to get back in the game.”

Liverpool will hope there is no repeat of the incident which saw them reduced to 10 men this weekend.

The match at Anfield kicks off at 12.30pm on Saturday.

United have been boosted by the news Romelu Lukaku is fully fit after suffering an ankle injury.
