Chelsea want Ghana striker Richmond Boakye

Boakye has enjoyed a stunning start to the 2017/18 campaign, scoring 10 goals and chipping in with three assists in 16 appearances.

And the Ghana international’s form is said to have attracted interest from Premier League champions Chelsea.

That is according to Ghana Soccernet, who claim Chelsea boss Conte is considering a move for the 24-year-old striker in January.

Conte has reportedly ordered his scouts to run the rule over Boakye when Red Star face Arsenal next week and again next month when they meet in the Europa League group stages.

Antonio Conte managed Richmond Boakye during his time at Juventus

Boakye previously worked under Conte during his two-year spell at Juventus, but he was sent out on loan twice and failed to make a senior appearance for the Serie A giants.

Ghana Soccernet add that Red Star will not block Chelsea’s move for Boakye should the Blues meet their £10m valuation.

Conte is said to be frustrated with his lack of options up front after getting beating to striker Fernando Llorente by Tottenham in the summer.

Boakye has been one of the deadliest strikers in Europe in 2017, scoring 30 goals this calendar year.

And after failing to live up to his promise as a youngster at Juventus, Boakye is happy to have his career back on track.

“When I was young like around my 20’s everybody was saying that I have talent,” he told Pulse Ghana Sports earlier this month.

“In football we have ups and downs. Sometimes it happens and I sat down and analysed certain things that I realised was wrong with me.

“When I went to Latina unfortunately I got a groin problem which took me out for four to 5 months.

“I just put my bad fortunes aside and put things in place with my personal advisor Sharaj Ahmed and we came with a solution.

“This is what is working for me now and I am following that trend.”
