Both players’ contracts expire next summer and Arsene Wenger may look to recoup some of their transfer fees in January to avoid losing them for free.

But Kolasinac, who Arsenal picked up for nothing from Schalke in the summer, believes the situation is not an issue and both players are still important.

“Of course, we would be happy to keep them,” he told Standard Sport.

“But I think it is important not to talk about the contracts.

“Mesut and Alexis are two players who always give their all and it is not an issue. It is not a problem around the team.

“It gives the team security knowing we have players like them, knowing they can make the difference.”

The Bosnian international got off to the perfect start in his Arsenal career, as he climbed off the bench to score the equaliser in the Community Shield against Chelsea.

He’s quickly become a fans’ favourite and despite being a doubt for this evening’s match at Watford, the 24-year-old is keen to continue his impressive form.

He added: “The season is young, but I am happy with how I’ve started.

“But I have got more potential to get better and I want to show that in the coming games.”

Arsenal are currently fifth in the Premier League, six points behind leaders Manchester City.
