Lionel Messi wants Barcelona to sign Philippe Coutinho

The Spanish giants have had a fine start to the season under Ernesto Valverde.

Barca, who face Atletico Madrid tonight, have won all seven of their La Liga games, conceding just two goals.

However, Spanish outlet Diario Gol say Messi desperately wants Barca to add new faces to the Nou Camp squad.

And they reckon Liverpool talisman Philippe Coutinho is Messi’s No.1 choice.

The Brazil international handed in a transfer request in the summer in hope of landing a dream move to the Nou Camp.

However, after rejecting three bids, Liverpool kept hold of their key man.

Diario Gol add that Barca are eyeing alternatives should they fail to land Coutinho again.

They reckon Manchester United stars Ander Herrera and Juan Mata are being tracked, while Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil is also an option.

Ozil is out of contract at the end of the season and the Germany international could leave the Emirates on a free transfer.

Messi reportedly has no interest in signing Yerry Mina or Leon Goretzka, who have both been heavily linked with moves to Barca in recent months.
