Liverpool star Emre Can starred in a frustrating goalless draw with Man Utd

The German shone in yesterday’s 0-0 draw with Manchester United at Anfield in the same week that he notched his first international goal against Azerbaijan.

Jurgen Klopp’s side dropped down to eighth in the league despite the draw but Can believes they were the better side in a frustrating game and positive performances will eventually lead to wins.

"We have to win that game because we dominated for 90 minutes,” he said.

“I think we had good chances and United had one shot on target with (Romelu) Lukaku.

"It's the same story like before the international break but we have to go again on Tuesday (against Maribor) because I think it's just a small, small step and then we will come in the right direction again.

"It's too early (to make judgements), nothing is over yet and we have to believe in ourselves. We have to win the next game."

Man Utd keeper David De Gea pulled off a world class save from Liverpool star Joel Matip

Team-mate Dejan Lovren agrees with Can that Liverpool dominated the game and were unluky not to get anything out of it.

Liverpool have only won once in their last eight games but haven’t lost a league game since their 5-0 thrashing at Manchester City last month.

They have a busy run of fixtures coming up, starting with the Champions League trip to Maribor before facing a tough task against Tottenham at Wembley on Sunday.
