Marco Silva's Watford impressed at Chelsea but came away with nothing

The Hornets led 2-1 against the Blues in the lunchtime kick off and had chances to extend their lead.

But Richarlison’s two key misses ultimately cost high-flying Watford as Chelsea clawed their way back.

Antonio Conte’s introduction of Michy Batshuayi and Willian proved inspired as they turned the game around.

Chelsea eventually won 4-2, despite being second best for much of the clash.

And Silva was more than annoyed, with Watford having dominated the champions in his eyes.

"It is a really unfair result,” Silva said. “It didn't reflect the match and what we saw on the pitch.

"Our team came here and controlled most of the match. We didn't create many chances in the first half, it is true, but we controlled the game and Chelsea started to play on the counter attack.

"We played our game and in the second half for 40 minutes there was one team playing on the pitch. After 2-1 we had clear chances to finish the match.

"I'm proud of how we played, but of course I'm really frustrated. It showed our way and we need to continue in this way."

Watford were leapfrogged by Chelsea as a result into fourth place, pushing the Hornets out of the Champions League places.

Silva’s men have the chance to pick up points next Saturday, though, when Stoke visit Vicarage Road.

Chelsea, meanwhile, host Everton in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday where they will hope to be more convincing.
