The Citizens sit five points clear at the top of the table and are the only unbeaten team left in the Premier League this term.

Guardiola's side are blowing their opponents away at the moment and look the favourites to go all the way this year.

But when pressed if his City team could emulate Arsenal's unbeaten season of 2003/04, the Spaniard remained hesitant.

“If you ask me if we can finish the season unbeaten I say that cannot happen,” he said.

“To have this kind of statistic is ridiculous because football today is so demanding.

“We know that when we don’t play good we are going to lose games. It doesn’t make any difference if the other team is not in the top five or six, any team can beat us.

“There are a lot of games, a lot of competitions and we have to focus every three days, but there will be a moment when we go down.

"At the moment I’m curious to test myself and the players on how we react to that because some times we must be warriors.”

Arsene Wenger's side are the only team in Premier League history to go an entire season unbeaten.

But Guardiola has good reason to be sceptical of his side's chances.

Last year City won their first ten games before failing to win their following six.
