Michy Batshuayi celebrates putting himself firmly back in the Chelsea fold

The Blues forward was snubbed by boss Antonio Conte when fellow attacker Alvaro Morata came off injured against Manchester City.

Midfielder Willian was brought on in his place, sparking reports Batshuayi's time at Stamford Bridge may be over before it even really began.

However, when given his chance from the bench against Watford on Saturday, the 24-year-old seized the opportunity, scoring twice and winning the game for Chelsea.

And club captain Gary Cahill believes the Belgian has proved he can be part of Chelsea's success this season.

"I’m sure he has things to improve but as a player that’s exactly how you respond," he told Chelsea's official website.

"He’s come on and changed the game for us.

"He scored two goals and arguably won us the game.

"I’m very pleased for him and I’m sure the manager and all the coaches are pleased for him.

Michy Batshuayi is greeted by Antonio Conte after his two goals gave Chelsea three points

"When you have a little sticky patch, to come on and do that is the best way to respond, fantastic."

Chelsea needed the three points against Marco Silva's men, having went the previous three games without a win.

The Blues welcome struggling Everton to Stamford Bridge tomorrow evening, as they looked to progress in the Carabao Cup.

Batshuayi netted a hat-trick in the last round of the competition, as Conte's side swept past Nottingham Forest 5-1.
