Swansea City want Nacer Chadli to replace Gylfi Sigurdsson once the midfielder completes his move to Everton and have made enquiries to try to re-sign Wilfried Bony and Joe Allen.

Sigurdsson will not be involved in Swansea’s Premier League opener against Southampton as talks continue with Everton over a £50 million switch to Goodison Park. Everton remain optimistic the deal will get done and Swansea have lined up Chadli to take his role.

The Belgian fell out with West Bromwich Albion head coach Tony Pulis this summer and was left at home when the club departed for their pre-season tour of Austria. That alerted Swansea, who originally tried to sign Chadli before he joined Tottenham Hotspur from FC Twente in 2013.

As well as Chadli, Swansea want to use the money they will get from selling Sigurdsson to re-sign Bony, who Manchester City value at £13m. Bony was a huge success in his 18 months at Swansea before joining City for almost £30m in January 2015, but has struggled since leaving the Liberty Stadium.

During a season-long loan at Stoke City last term, Bony scored just two Premier League goals but Swansea believe they could get the best back out of him.

Other than Chadli and Bony, Swansea are on the hunt for another deep-lying midfielder and have looked into trying to take Allen back to the club. Stoke are unlikely to want to sell Allen, but that has not stopped Swansea trying to find out whether or not a deal could be done.

Allen was a huge hit at Swansea before leaving for Liverpool and the Welsh club tried to take him back from Anfield. But the Wales international moved to Stoke last summer and once again proved his class.

Swansea are also one of the clubs monitoring Jack Wilshere’s situation at Arsenal with the possibility of making a move once the England international has proved his fitness.
