Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp does not believe his side needs a 25-goal-a-season striker to rival the potent attacking force of his rivals.

While Romelu Lukaku, Harry Kane and Alvaro Morata have made impressive starts to the campaign, Klopp is looking for his attacking quartet to work in harmony should they start for the first time on Premier League duty at Newcastle.

The combinations of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino were impressive in Moscow in midweek, but the clinical finishing was lacking.

Klopp, though, is sure the goals will come.

“That we don’t score at this moment is not the fault of one player,” said Klopp.

“Yes, maybe Harry Kane would have scored one or two of the chances we had, probably yes. But he missed chances in other games in other moments of his career. So it’s not always about asking for other players. It’s to work with what you have and that’s what we’re doing.

“Our fit is good enough to make a lot of it. I don’t think anyone thinks they have the perfect fit, but we have a very good fit.

“We have Roberto Firmino, maybe not 25 goals, but ask anyone in the Premier League and they will say, ‘What a player’.”

Klopp rejected the idea he should have been in the market for a specialist No 9 before the start of the season .

“We have Daniel Sturridge. We all know about his potential. Now he’s fit, so hopefully we can use it,” he said.

“And we have Dom Solanke for sure the biggest (young) English talent in the position No 9. That’s a fantastic situation.

“Because Morata is now really working and is a perfect fit, because Lukaku is the perfect fit for Manchester United, because Harry Kane is now scoring, because Lacazette is doing well... we had other things we felt we needed to do first. For us, the market was not really there. We had no chance for Lukaku. That would have been an interesting move.

“You cannot buy just because you think you will not score enough. We have enough chances and we will score.”
