Dirty TackleBBC comedian in Man City kit arrested for trying to warm up with the team before Everton match
Prior to Manchester City's 2-0 loss at Everton on Saturday, a BBC comedian dressed in a City kit was arrested for attempting to warm up with the team. Simon Brodkin of the BBC Three show Lee Nelson's Well Good Show was in character as fictional Premier League footballer Jason Bent and dressed in full City kit (complete with "Bent 9" on the back) and warm-ups. He somehow managed to get on the pitch at Goodison Park as City warmed up before the match, confusing players and eventually get escorted away by security personnel (pictures here).
The BBC report on the matter conveniently leaves out the fact that Brodkin works for them:
A man dressed in a Manchester City kit tried to warm up with the team at a match.
He ran on to the pitch at Goodison Park in Liverpool as City's players warmed up for their champions' [sic] Premier League match against Everton.
Stewards noticed him and he was led away by security staff.
Merseyside Police said a 35-year-old man from London was arrested on suspicion of pitch encroachment and will be interviewed later.
Brodkin previously attracted police attention during a stunt as his Lee Nelson character in which he attempted to shoplift his own DVD and was chased by a fake cop only to be detained by a real cop until the confusion was cleared up. Given the fact that City ended up losing to Everton even though the hosts were reduced to 10 men when Steven Pienaar was sent off in the 61st minute, maybe they should've let Brodkin play.
