Betting: Everton 10/1 for Premier League relegation after Leicester defeat

Claude Puel got off to the perfect start as Leicester City manager but the Foxes' 2-0 victory over Everton on Sunday leaves the Toffees with just eight points from 10 league matches this term.

Currently in 18th place, dabblebet go 10/1 (11.0) that Everton are relegated from the Premier League for the first time in their history; that's still a long way off of course, and is still seen as a relatively long shot, but the side that finished seventh last season have showed few signs of improvement in caretaker boss David Unsworth first two games in charge.

The lack of a suitable replacement for Romelu Lukaku is becoming more painfully obvious with every passing game, but it's the issues at the back that should be just as much of a concern.

A double from Jamie Vardy and Demarai Gray means Everton have now conceded 20 times in their 10 league matches, with only bottom club Crystal Palace having leaked more than that; combined with a total of just seven strikes at the opposite end, whoever replaces Ronald Koeman on a permanent basis looks to have their work cut out to turn things around at Goodison Park.

Thursday's trip to Lyon in the Europa League comes just three days before the Merseyside club host Watford, with the Hornets in flying form overall under Marco Silva this season, albeit they have suffered back-to-back defeats to Chelsea and Stoke in their last two matches.

Silva is actually a 5/1 (6.0) chance with Paddy Power to take over at Everton on a permanent basis, with the bookmaker still keeping Unsworth as their 6/4 (2.50) favourite ahead of Sam Allardyce and Sean Dyche, who are each available at 7/2 (4.50).

A key point to note for bettors looking at next manager markets is that anyone who takes charge of 10 consecutive matches is usually settled as the winner, a factor well worth keeping in mind if you're keen to back an interim boss who could be in situ for a significant period, even if they're not officially given the job on a permanent basis.

Everton are 11/10 (2.10) to bounce back to winning ways at Goodison Park this weekend but considering Watford's displays on the road this term, the 13/5 (3.60) on an away win could be a popular pick, especially given the midweek trip to France for Unsworth's side.

The Hornets have already picked up three victories away in the Premier League campaign (Bournemouth, Southampton and Swansea) plus a draw at West Brom before their defeat at Stamford Bridge.
