Betting: Romelu Lukaku 9/4 to reach 30 Premier League goals this season

30 goals in a Premier League season is no mean feat. Only seven players have reached this milestone in a single campaign, but Romelu Lukaku looks to have a fantastic chance of joining the illustrious list.

Having struck 25 goals at Everton before sealing his switch to Manchester United, the Belgium international should have even more chances in the final third considering the assist potential in Jose Mourinho's squad this term.

With the likes of Paul Pogba, Juan Mata and Henrikh Mkhitaryan supplying the ammunition, there is expected to be plenty of interest in the 9/4 (3.25) available at dabblebet that Lukaku becomes the latest inductee into an exclusive band of players who have achieved this milestone.

One criticism of Lukaku during his time at Goodison Park was that he was something of a flat track bully, notching multiple goals against weaker teams but failing to produce against those at the top of the division.

That's precisely the kind of trait that could see him reach 30 goals though and his double against West Ham in the first game of the season is a perfect example of how clinical the 25-year-old can be against the defences who offer less resistance.

It will certainly be interesting to see how Lukaku fares in the bigger games, although United don't face a team who finished in last season's top six until their clash with Liverpool in mid-October. By then, Lukaku could be well on his way to rivalling those who have proved most prolific over a single campaign.

The 30 club includes Andy Cole, Cristiano Ronaldo, Robin van Persie and Thierry Henry. Alan Shearer achieved it three times during his career at Blackburn Rovers, notching at least 30 league goals in consecutive seasons between 1993 and 1996.

Luis Suarez was the last player to be inducted into this exclusive group with his emphatic campaign at Liverpool in 2013/14. Lukaku is now 2/1 (3.0) favourite to win the Golden Boot this season after three goals in his first two games, ahead of holder and ante-post frontrunner Harry Kane, who is still 4/1 (5.0) despite not getting off the mark yet.

dabblebet have United as 9/4 (3.25) second favourites for the Premier League title, with Manchester City still out in front at 6/4 (2.50) depsite a laboured performance in the 1-1 draw with Everton on Monday.
