Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey are both back in contention to play for Arsenal at Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday lunchtime. Arsene Wenger confirmed the good news for his team at his press conference at London Colney early on Friday morning.

Wilshere limped off during Arsenal’s 0-0 draw at Chelsea on Wednesday night with a sprained ankle and Wenger said afterwards that he expected him to miss this Sunday’s trip to the Vitality Stadium. But the first scan on Wilshere’s ankle was positive and now he has a chance to play this weekend.

“From Wednesday night we had Jack, who was injured,” Wenger said. “We had very good news yesterday morning. I saw him walking normally, and his scan was good. He is not out of the game on Sunday yet.”

Ramsey has been out for a month, since injuring his hamstring in the 1-1 draw at Southampton on 10 December. But he has recovered and could also play a part on Sunday. “We will have Ramsey back in the squad,” Wenger confirmed.

But Mesut Ozil, who is recovering from a knee injury, is less likely to play. He missed the game at West Bromwich Albion on 31 December, returned to face Chelsea on 3 January, but has been out since then.

“We have an uncertainty over Ozil, who will have a test earliest tomorrow,” Wenger said. “That at the moment is a bit 50-50. He had a swollen knee and a recurrence of what he had two or three weeks ago. That’s why he was not involved on Wednesday night.”

Wenger said that “all the other players will still be out for Bournemouth”, which means that Olivier Giroud is still “two weeks away”, Laurent Koscielny will be back “next week”, as will Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac, although the Bosnian left-back has “a little, little chance” to feature this weekend.
